#32 – Christology and Creeds: The Doctrine of Christology

Jen Wilkin, JT English, and Kyle Worley dive deep into the doctrine of Christology, discussing what it is and the biblical texts and historical creeds that have informed our understanding of it.

Questions Covered in This Episode:

  • What is Christology?
  • Jen, what are the most traveled passages in scripture when dealing with the doctrine of Christ?
  • When we start to consider our doctrine of Christ, what are the sources historically we often lean on? Why do these matter?
  • What recommendation would you make for someone looking to consider Christology further?

Helpful Definitions:

  • Christology: The eternally begotten Son, who shares in the divine nature assumed upon Himself a fully human nature in the incarnation. Jesus is truly God and truly Man.
  • Arianism: The early church heresy that claims that Christ is created and therefore less than the Father, who alone is divine. Also called Subordinationism.
  • Homoousios: Same essence
  • Homoiousios: Like essence
