#60 – What Will Christ Do?

Jen Wilkin, JT English, and Kyle Worley continue their discussion of the Apostles’ Creed as they talk about what Christ will do and is doing now. They talk about what it means that He rose from the dead, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and that He will judge the living and the dead.

Questions Covered in This Episode:

  • When the creed says “rose again from the dead?” What do we mean?
  • Why is the resurrection of Christ unique?
  • In what way has death been defeated?
  • Why does the gospel fall apart without an ascended Christ?
  • “Seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty…”
  • “From there he will come…” When is he coming? How is he coming?
  • “...He will come to judge the living and the dead…” Is he really coming to judge? What does this mean?

The Apostles Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

creator of heaven and earth,

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit

and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

He descended to hell.

The third day He rose again from the dead.

He ascended to heaven

and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.
